Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a seasoned Full-Stack Engineer to build Membership experiences across web frontend and cloud-backed services. You’ll work on customer-facing features that impact retention and revenue, while ensuring reliability and security of the systems behind them.

You’ll own vertical slices of the roadmap, collaborate with Product, Design, and SRE, and apply AI-assisted tools responsibly to accelerate development and testing.

Qualifications

• Several years of professional software development experience (4+ years).
• Strong skills in TypeScript/JavaScript and production-grade software delivery.
• Solid experience with React or a comparable frontend framework.
• Experience building or consuming APIs and backend services (Node.js/Express).
• Experience with automated tests and code reviews.
• Practical understanding of cloud-based systems, preferably AWS.
• Ability to own problems and communicate trade-offs clearly.
• Collaborative mindset in distributed teams.
• Interest in learning across the stack and AI-assisted development.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools and their limitations.

Responsibilities

• Work with Product, Design, and engineers to understand customer problems, shape solutions, and deliver them at scale.
• Own vertical slices of the Membership roadmap from technical discovery through implementation, release, and production operation.
• Build accessible, responsive, and reliable web experiences using TypeScript, React, and modern frontend practices.
• Design and implement backend services and APIs using Node.js, Express, and related technologies.
• Work with data models, external integrations, and the failure modes that come with payments, subscriptions, billing, and account access.
• Create maintainable, testable code and contribute to automated testing at the appropriate levels.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and documentation that help the team move quickly without sacrificing quality.
• Participate in the team’s upkeep rotation, including monitoring, debugging, and resolving production issues.
• Support safe releases and improve observability, reliability, performance, and product health over time.
• Collaborate with teams including Finance, Marketing, and SRE.
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring work and fix problems at their root.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools thoughtfully in your daily work, for example to explore solutions, generate or improve code, create tests, investigate issues, and document systems.
• Evaluate AI-generated output critically and take responsibility for correctness, security, maintainability, and the experience delivered to members.

The Membership team owns the company’s end-to-end membership experience: sign-up, trials, renewals, upgrades, cancellations, payments, and access to membership benefits across our channels.

As a Full-Stack Engineer, you’ll build the web experiences and cloud services that make Membership reliable and easy to use. You’ll work on customer-facing features that directly influence member experience, retention, and revenue, while helping us operate and improve the systems behind them.

AI-assisted development is already part of how we improve engineering effectiveness at the company. We use AI tools to accelerate exploration, implementation, testing, documentation, and problem-solving, while relying on engineering judgment to validate output and protect quality, security, privacy, and reliability. We’re looking for someone who is already comfortable using these tools and is motivated to explore where they can create further practical impact.

You may have deeper experience in either frontend or backend development. We do not expect equal depth across every technology, but we do expect you to be comfortable owning meaningful features across the boundary between user interface, APIs, data, and cloud services.

What you’ll do

What we’re looking for

• Several years of professional software-development experience, typically 4+ years for this role.

• Strong programming skills in TypeScript or JavaScript and a track record of delivering production software.

• Solid experience with React or a comparable modern frontend framework.

• Experience building or consuming APIs and working with backend services, ideally using Node.js and Express.

• Experience writing automated tests and participating in code reviews.

• A practical understanding of cloud-based systems and production operations, ideally in AWS.

• The ability to take ownership of a problem, make sensible trade-offs, and communicate clearly when requirements or timelines change.

• A collaborative mindset and comfort working with Product, Design, and partner teams in a distributed environment.

• An interest in learning across the stack and improving both customer-facing experiences and the systems that support them.

• Demonstrated comfort using AI coding or productivity tools, with the judgment to understand their limitations and verify their output.

• Curiosity about emerging AI capabilities and a bias toward applying them to real engineering or product problems.

• Experience with GraphQL.
