Job summary

IQM Finland Oy is seeking a Fabrication Operator, Frontend Wafer module, to join the QPU Production foundry in Espoo. You will work hands-on in the cleanroom, operating lithography, deposition, etch, and wet/thermal tools, ensuring quality and on-time wafers according to SOPs.

Reporting to the Wafer Production Team Leader, you’ll collaborate with Production Engineers, tech lead, and other teams, with readiness to work in shifts.

Qualifications

• Hands-on production experience in a cleanroom with at least 1 year of lab work.
• A university of applied sciences degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Ability to follow SOPs and deliver consistent results.
• Detail-oriented with safety-first mindset across complex fabrication processes.
• Strong technical communication and teamwork in a cross-functional setting.
• Willingness to work in shifts when required.

Responsibilities

• Execute front-end QPU fabrication and metrology work strictly according to SOPs and safety protocols.
• Safely operate cleanroom tools for lithography, deposition, etch, and wet/thermal processes using setups and recipes.
• Run production lots to hit daily throughput targets and keep the line moving.
• Monitor equipment status and process progress in real time, staying within parameters.
• Log production activity in the MES and track wafer lots through stations.
• Maintain cleanroom discipline with proper gowning and chemical handling for safety.
• Report process drifts, equipment errors, or quality deviations to the Production Engineer.
• Give clear shift handovers on work-in-progress and tool issues.
• Keep workstations to 5S standards and reset workspace at each shift change.
• Participate in weekly planning and reporting meetings and report incidents to Team Leader/H&S.
• Participate in ongoing quality and safety improvements within the fabrication team.

The work

As Fabrication Operator, Frontend Wafer module, you'll be hands‑on in our cleanroom, fabricating the QPUs and test wafers at the heart of IQM's quantum computers. You'll run matured front‑end fabrication and metrology processes with a safety‑first mindset, following our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Best‑Known Methods (BKMs) so every wafer comes out with consistent quality and on time.

You'll join the Fabrication department in QPU Production at our Foundry Espoo F1, reporting to the Wafer Production Team Leader. Day to day you'll work closely with fellow operators, Production Engineers, the tech lead, and Team Leaders, alongside other teams across IQM.

This is precision work: operating lithography, deposition, etch, and wet/thermal tools, keeping the line moving, and catching anything out of spec before it becomes a problem. The role is onsite and full‑time, with readiness to work in shifts when required.

What you’ll actually do

• Execute front‑end QPU fabrication and metrology work strictly according to SOPs, work instructions, and safety protocols

• Safely operate cleanroom tools for lithography, deposition, etch, and wet/thermal processes, using the provided setups and recipes

• Run assigned production lots efficiently to hit daily throughput targets and keep the line moving

• Monitor equipment status and process progress in real time, making sure every run stays within specified parameters

• Log all production activity in the MES, checking wafer lots in and out of stations and capturing process data as you go

• Keep strict cleanroom discipline, including proper gowning and chemical handling, to prevent contamination and keep everyone safe

• Spot and immediately report process drifts, equipment errors, or quality deviations to the Production Engineer

• Give clear shift handovers on work‑in‑progress and tool issues so operation continues smoothly

• Keep workstations to 5S standards and reset your workspace at every shift change

• Take part in weekly planning and reporting meetings, and report any incidents or accidents to your Team Leader and the H&S responsible

What we’re looking for

• Hands‑on production experience from a cleanroom environment (any industry, e.g. semiconductor, pharma or medical devices), with at least 1 year of lab work

• A degree from a university of applied sciences, for example in engineering (or equivalent work experience)

• The discipline to execute work exactly according to SOPs and deliver consistent results, batch after batch

• A detail‑oriented, safety‑first mindset across complex fabrication processes

• Good technical communication: you can explain a problem and its solution to people who know the fabrication process but not the details of the issue

• A team player with strong communication skills who follows safety rules, keeps a traceable record of their work, and respects other people's work

• Readiness to work in shifts when required
