Job summary

SPX AtoN in Porvoo, Finland, is seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to join our engineering team for the development of next-generation embedded products. This hands-on role entails coding, testing and debugging at the microcontroller level, with close collaboration to hardware and other engineering teams.

We value strong C programming skills, bare-metal and RTOS experience, and familiarity with ARM Cortex MCUs.

Qualifications

• Experience in embedded firmware development.
• Strong programming skills in C.
• Solid experience with bare-metal development and RTOS.
• Experience with ARM Cortex microcontrollers is valuable.
• Experience developing firmware directly on microcontrollers.
• Good understanding of embedded hardware and collaboration with hardware engineers.
• Familiarity with wireless technologies such as BLE,LTE-M, NB-IoT and LoRaWAN.
• Knowledge of serial communication protocols (UART,I2C,SPI).
• Git and related development tools are beneficial.
• C++ experience would be an advantage.
• Good written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded firmware from design through testing, release and maintenance.
• Write low-level C firmware for bare-metal and RTOS environments.
• Develop, test, debug and maintain firmware for MCU-based products.
• Work on both NPI and sustaining engineering activities.
• Investigate and resolve software defects and improve existing products.
• Create software designs, specs, test plans and docs.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, test and project engineers to deliver complete products.
• Explore new technologies and contribute to next-gen firmware architecture.
• Test and debug firmware with lab equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes.
