Job summary

The University of Helsinki invites applications for a 36-month, full-time MSCA Doctoral position titled Exploiting Migration to Influence and Destabilise Societies in Europe’s Eastern Periphery. The project examines how migration narratives are constructed and disseminated to affect democratic processes and social cohesion.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree, be eligible to start a doctoral programme, and have excellent English.

Qualifications

• Applicants must hold a relevant Master’s degree or equivalent which formally entitles them to start a doctorate at the time of application.
• Applicants cannot have been awarded a doctoral degree.
• All positions require excellent English-language skills, some projects may particularly benefit from knowledge of Russian and/or languages spoken in the Baltic States and the Western Balkans.

Responsibilities

• Analyse migration narratives and media using discourse analysis and case studies.
• Collaborate with international supervisors and partner institutions.
• Publish and present research findings at conferences and in journals.
