The University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of Doctoral Researcher in Global Development Studies. The appointment is fixed term for at least three years starting on 1 March 2027 and is full-time.

The appointee will conduct fieldwork in Brazil, work with the Principal Investigator, publish scholarly articles, and contribute to project communications. Teaching up to 5% of time is expected, with residence in Finland and substantial Brazil fieldwork.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Global Development Studies or related field.
• Fluency or excellent skills in Portuguese and English.
• Experience with qualitative/ethnographic methods is preferred.
• Ability to conduct fieldwork in Brazil and residence in Finland during employment.

Responsabilités

• Produce research material in Brazil through in-situ fieldwork, media/online ethnography, interviews and observation.
• Publish articles independently and jointly based on empirical material.
• Participate in project communications and organize project events.
• Conduct teaching up to 5% of annual working time.
