Job summary

The University of Eastern Finland invites applications for six Doctoral Researcher positions in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies. Roles are based in Kuopio or Joensuu, starting 1 January 2027 or as agreed, with a fixed-term of 1–3 years and a strong emphasis on developing a research proposal and pursuing postgraduate studies.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent and have the right to pursue postgraduate studies at the university.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or suitable foreign education qualifying for equivalent university studies in the awarding country.
• Planning or working on your first doctoral degree.
• Having the right to pursue postgraduate studies at the Faculty at the time you start in the position.

Responsibilities

• Conduct doctoral research in accordance with your approved research proposal.
• Work within the Doctoral Programme of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies.
• Fixed-term appointments of 1–3 years with a view to completing the doctoral degree in about three years.
• Part-time positions require additional funding to enable full-time work on the dissertation.
