Job summary

Fermion Oy in Hanko, part of Orion, seeks a Production Development Engineer to maintain and develop the plant's process equipment. The role includes design, procurement, commissioning, training, risk assessments, and collaboration with suppliers and production teams.

You will join a team of roughly 180 personnel at the Hanko site, work across maintenance and projects, and contribute to safety, quality and efficiency improvements while adopting new technologies.

Job description

We are looking for a Production Development Engineer for a permanent position at Fermion’s Hanko plant.

Your role

You will maintain and develop the technical level of the plant’s process equipment. You will participate in the design, procurement, and commissioning of new facilities and equipment as a representative of production. Your work will also include training of production personnel, participating in risk assessments, preparing instructions, and communicating with equipment suppliers. The position is located in Hanko.

Approximately 200 people work at the Hanko plant, about 160 of whom are in production. You will be part of a team consisting of production professionals at the Hanko plant. You will also work closely with the plant’s maintenance and project organization.

Responsibilities

As a Development Engineer, you will:

  • Drive continuous improvement of production operations
  • Lead and support development and process improvement projects

What are we looking for?

Your new team

Fermion Oy is a subsidiary of Orion and develops and produces all active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for Orion's in-house developed innovative medicines and for some of Orion's branded, generic and animal health products. Fermion also develops and produces a series of generic APIs for various indications and is active as CDMO, contract development and manufacturing organization, to serve other pharmaceutical companies. The company has produced APIs in Hanko, Finland since 1973, and the plant currently has personnel of 180. The company's Oulu plant commenced operations back in 1964 and currently employs more than 100 professionals. Fermion’s head office is in Espoo where R&D, S&M and part of QM personnel are located. Altogether approximately 400 professionals work for Fermion.
