Job summary

Fermion Oy, a subsidiary of Orion, is seeking a Production Development Engineer for its Hanko plant to maintain and develop the plant's process equipment and participate in the design, procurement and commissioning of new facilities. You will train production personnel, perform risk assessments and prepare instructions, while collaborating with equipment suppliers.

The role is located in Hanko and involves close cooperation with maintenance and project teams to drive continuous improvement,

Qualifications

  • Relevant technical education (Engineer or MSc in Technology).
  • Previous work experience in industrial tasks.
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and/or process technology.
  • Good documentation skills and proficiency with information systems.
  • Strong Finnish and English verbal and written communication; working language is Finnish.

Job Description

We are looking for a Production Development Engineer for a permanent position at Fermion’s Hanko plant.

Your role

You will maintain and develop the technical level of the plant’s process equipment. You will participate in the design, procurement, and commissioning of new facilities and equipment as a representative of production. Your work will also include training of production personnel, participating in risk assessments, preparing instructions, and communicating with equipment suppliers. The position is located in Hanko.

Approximately 200 people work at the Hanko plant, about 160 of whom are in production. You will be part of a team consisting of production professionals at the Hanko plant. You will also work closely with the plant’s maintenance and project organization.

To Succeed In This Role, You Should Have

Approved medical examination which also includes drug testing is required prior to the employment. We will also carry out a security clearance prior to the employment for the selected person.

Your new team

Fermion Oy is a subsidiary of Orion and develops and produces all active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for Orion's in‑house developed innovative medicines and for some of Orion's branded, generic and animal health products. Fermion also develops and produces a series of generic APIs for various indications and is active as CDMO, contract development and manufacturing organization, to serve other pharmaceutical companies. The company has produced APIs in Hanko, Finland since 1973, and the plant currently has personnel of 180. The company's Oulu plant commenced operations back in 1964 and currently employs more than 100 professionals. Fermion’s head office is in Espoo where R&D, S&M and part of QM personnel are located. Altogether approximately 400 professionals work for Fermion.
