Job summary

Nordec Group is seeking a Design Engineer to join the Nordic Design Service team in Vaasa or Peräseinäjoki, Finland. You will help ensure successful frame design processes and support Nordec’s competitiveness through high-quality, efficient, and standardized design solutions.

You will model steel structures, coordinate interfaces, and generate outputs for factory and site use, contributing to timely delivery and constructability in a collaborative, international environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in designing steel structures.
• Strong Tekla Structures modelling and design skills.
• Experience in CAD design and steel structure design.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a project-driven environment.
• Good communication and cooperation skills in a project environment.
• Fluent in Finnish, Swedish and English or willingness to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Modelling steel structures and preparing detailed design documentation for Nordic projects.
• Coordinating steel structures with concrete structures, façades and other interfaces.
• Creating accurate outputs for factory and site use, including drawings and transfer files.
• Ensuring design quality, constructability and timely delivery of frames.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve design questions and support project execution.

Design Engineer

to join our Nordic Design Service team in one of our offices in Vaasa or Peräseinäjoki, Finland. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring successful frame design processes in our projects and supporting Nordec’s competitiveness and profitability through high-quality, efficient and standardized design solutions.

As a Design Engineer you are responsible for

• Modelling steel structures and prepare detailed design documentation for Nordic projects.
• Coordinating steel structures with adjoining structures such as concrete structures, façades and other project interfaces.
• Creating accurate outputs for factory and site use, including drawings, details, reports and transfer files.
• Supporting a smooth and successful frame design process by ensuring design quality, constructability and timely delivery.
• Collaborating with project stakeholders to resolve design-related questions and support efficient project execution.

To succeed in this role, we expect you to have

• MSc or BSc degree in engineering or another relevant technical field.
• Experience in CAD design and steel structure design.
• Strong Tekla Structures modelling and design skills.
• At least one year of experience designing steel structures.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and manage priorities in a project-driven environment.
• Good communication and cooperation skills in a project environment.
• Language skills in Finnish, Swedish and English.
