Job summary

Metsä Group is seeking a Data Scientist in Espoo, Finland, to transform business challenges into data-driven solutions. Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (Applied Math, Economics, Data Science, CS or similar).
• Strong expertise in analytics, ML, optimization and modelling.
• Experience with hypothesis-driven problem solving and business case evaluation.
• Excellent Python programming and data-science libraries; SQL experience.

By applying advanced analytics, machine learning, optimization techniques and generative AI, you will identify new opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automate decision-making and support innovation across the organization.In this role, you will design, develop and evaluate machine learning, optimization and AI-based solutions, taking ideas from initial hypotheses and experimentation through to scalable, production-ready capabilities. You will work closely with business experts, data engineers and software developers to solve challenging business problems and unlock the value of data.You will be responsible for managing experimentation portfolios and model inventories, assessing experiment outcomes and recommending the next steps, whether that means further refinement, MVP development or full-scale deployment. You will also help establish best practices, development standards and governance models for data science and AI initiatives.
