Job summary

UPM is seeking a Data Engineering Lead to join the Data Engineering Lead Team in Helsinki. You will shape data engineering practices, own guidelines and technology choices, and act as a hands-on expert driving high-quality data products.

You will coach data engineers, collaborate with internal and external teams, and align data solutions with governance and business needs. Fluent in English, you will report to the IT Data and Digital Enablement leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data development and operations experience.
• Hands-on expertise with Snowflake, dbt and Azure.
• Proven ability to identify business needs and deliver value.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong networking and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape data engineering practices across the organization.
• Own and develop data engineering guidelines and technology choices.
• Act as hands-on expert, supporting teams with implementation.
• Coach and mentor data engineers to strengthen capabilities.
• Collaborate with internal and external data engineers for consistency.
• Work cross-functionally with platform teams, governance, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate and communicate with key stakeholders across the organization.
• Contribute to data governance initiatives and governance frameworks adoption.
