Job summary

GE Vernova in Tampere, Finland, is seeking a Control Engineer to join the FACTS Control Software team. You will design control systems for high‑power grid devices, test in the lab, and commission at the site, contributing to R&D in FACTS control.

The role requires strong knowledge of power systems, control theory, and simulations (PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, RTDS/PSSE), plus fluent English and willingness to travel in an international environment.

Qualifications

• MSc (or higher) in Power System Engineering or equivalent.
• Specialized knowledge in Electrical Power Engineering.
• Understanding of control theory behind grid-connected devices.
• Knowledge in compensation systems and power electronics.
• Fluent written and oral English; other languages a plus.
• Strong prioritizing and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality study documents and specifications.
• Plan, specify and participate testing.
• Execute control and protection testing and system energizing.
• Participate in technical negotiations with customers and stakeholders.
• Support equipment sourcing (technical inputs, evaluations).
• Support technical tendering and R&D in FACTS control system design.
