Job summary

CSC - IT Center for Science in Espoo invites applications for a Climate Modeling Specialist to join the Digital Twin Technologies Group on a fixed-term contract until April 2028. You will drive high-resolution climate simulations, validate configurations, and troubleshoot issues across an international team of scientists and engineers.

You will work with HPC systems and climate models, leveraging Python/Bash for automation, and collaborate to ensure reliable operation of the Climate Digital Twin

Qualifications

• Experience with HPC environments and Slurm batch systems.
• Experience running large-scale numerical simulations.
• Programming or scripting in Python and/or Bash.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in an international, multidisciplinary team.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Execute, monitor and document multi-decadal km-scale operational simulations using climate models (ICON, IFS‑NEMO and IFS‑FESOM).
• Perform test simulations to validate configurations before runs.
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues with workflow, software, and model teams.
• Improve automation of routine operational tasks.
• Collaborate with international experts to support Climate DT operations.
