Job summary

Aiven is seeking a pragmatic automation-focused engineer to redesign and automate cross-functional processes at our Helsinki HQ. You will map real workflows, decide what to automate, and build software and agents to support production systems used by Finance, Operations, and Sales.

Work closely with business owners and engineering teams, ensuring solutions are observable, recoverable, and safe to run in production, while promoting clear policy and adoption across the company.

Qualifications

• Built production systems that people depend on, with tests and observability.
• Worked close to the business, translating real processes into buildable solutions.
• Exercised product judgment to avoid automating unnecessary tasks.
• Learned new domains quickly to identify safe automation opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Learn how a process actually works, map exceptions, and redesign end-to-end automation.
• Decide which steps to encode as rules, which to model, and which require human input.
• Write code, work with APIs, build integrations and agents, and deploy to production.
• Ensure reliability: observable, recoverable, and safe to run across business systems.
• Own the technical design and implementation while business owners own policy and adoption.
