Aiven is seeking a Staff Engineer to own and evolve the engineering foundations for our internal applications from Helsinki HQ. You will ensure safe, maintainable, and efficient shared infrastructure to support AI-enabled development at scale.

The role emphasizes influence over direct authority and impact beyond your own team. You will lead ownership of critical internal platforms, including the hiring platform and credential gateway, while collaborating across Finance, People, and Operations to

• Owned meaningful production software end to end.
• Strong software engineering depth and ownership of infrastructure/production environment.
• Influenced engineering decisions beyond own team through design reviews and standards.
• Used AI coding agents with defined context, tests, permissions, and review boundaries.
• Made architecture and product trade-offs under ambiguity; decided what not to build.
• Typically 8+ years of building and operating software.

Responsabilidades

• Own our internal applications and shared infrastructure, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
• Drive improvements to the hiring platform and credential gateway, across code, infra and production operations.
• Set pragmatic engineering standards and architectural patterns for internal apps.
• Own release paths, migrations, and operational controls; define security and automation practices.
• Enable other teams to build and operate their own applications; improve developer experience and remove bottlenecks.
