The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal is looking for a Biostatistician who is interested in taking over and managing activities in the ENDOMIX project which has received funding from HORIZON-HLTH-2023 and presents a cutting-edge multi-disciplinary research endeavour that aims to rigorously uncover the true impact of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and mixtures of concern on human health. By providing a unique new evidence base and scientific proof on the health impact of exposures, ENDOMIX will close existing knowledge gaps between science and policy. There are a number of European birth cohorts that participate in the ENDOMIX project. ISGlobal coordinates the HELIX, BiSC and INMA Sabadell cohorts with rich data and expertise at the exposure assessment, molecular (epigenetics, microbiome and metabolome) and health phenotype levels. It participates in various tasks in WP1 and 5 and leads two tasks. Task 1.3 on immune-mediated effect of EDCs on cardiometabolic and cardiovascular health and Task 5.3 on the role of the microbiome in the relation of immune-related EDC-effects with health outcomes.

The post holder will work with Dr Léa Maitre, assistant research professor in the area of Exposome research. It will provide opportunities for interaction with other groups (internally, nationally and internationally) in particular within the Exposome Hub , the data science group and the Environment and Health over the Lifecourse program .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• The position will involve preparing the databases and codebook based on EDC, immune biomarkers, metabolomics and gut microbiota.
• The technician will also be involved in conducting exposome-wide association studies, in relation to various to omics.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Database preparation in R
• Conduct advanced statistical analysis in R
• Machine learning with python libraries
• Regular presentation and interpretation of results
• Valorisation in the form of presentations and papers

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

• Master in biomedical sciences, biostatistics, bioinformatics or epidemiology with a strong emphasis on data analysis
• Knowledge of applied statistics.
• Strong experience in R programming
• Self-motivated, autonomous person with team work skills and ability to work in various projects.
• Professional attitude and excellent attention to detail.

• Good communication skills both written and spoken.
• Good level of English (written and spoken).

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases :

1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.

2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
