You’ll join and collaborate with our global team and engineering leaders on all matters that impact the Engineering team, including resourcing and building technology / product vision. The team works on a technical stack which includes both cloud and on-premise deployments, big-data ingestion and analytics, distributed systems and algorithmic complexity. Position Overview:

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer (EU) is expected to lead and contribute to all parts of the software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, development, documentation, testing, and operations. As a member of a rapidly evolving engineering organization, the Senior Machine Learning Engineer will need to be able to cross functions easily and collaborate with other highly effective individuals, including members of the C-suite. This is a challenging engineering role that offers a great opportunity to grow with Aetion and make a difference by helping expand the use of Aetion's products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Use a variety of machine learning methods to solve healthcare-related problems using cloud-based technologies.
2. Transform innovative AI prototypes into production-ready solutions through rigorous engineering practices.
3. Work cross functionally with engineers to integrate AI / ML features into our applications.
4. Work alongside science and product to identify and solve high-value machine learning use-cases.
5. Maintain and monitor existing AI / ML functionality.
6. Research topics in machine learning and AI to stay up-to-date on emerging trends in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required:

1. A BSc / MSc / PhD degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, data science, computer science, statistics, electrical engineering, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering or a related STEM field.
2. 6+ years of relevant work experience.
3. Expert in Python programming for full data science lifecycle (ETL, data exploration, cleaning / pre-processing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring). Tech stack: SQL, Scikit-learn, Numpy, Pandas, Pytorch, Transformers.
4. Experience with LLMs: prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning.
5. Highly analytical, problem-solving mindset with a demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams and independently solving ill-defined problems on data from heterogeneous sources.
6. Interested in partnering with product teams to solve complex business problems with AI / ML.
7. Strong communication skills, in fluent English, with ability to explain complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
8. Experience with version control software (e.g., Git).
9. Experience working with containerized compute (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
10. Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).

Preferred:

1. Experience in the healthcare industry or experience working with large, complex medical / healthcare data (e.g., insurance claims, EHR, CDISC).
2. Experience with AWS Bedrock and / or other LLM platforms.
3. Experience with MLOps.
4. Experience with software engineering best practices.
