We are currently seeking a Vice President (VP) of Software Engineering for our partner, a high-growth company based in Barcelona.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and technical evolution of their platforms and digital content services. The scope covers the entire technology offering.

The ideal candidate will provide leadership and mentorship, combining business acumen with strong technical expertise.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead development across platforms and microservices.
2. Design and iterate on the underlying architecture of software systems.
3. Oversee the work of junior to senior-level software engineers and data scientists.
4. Engage in code reviews and unblock work performed by other engineers.
5. Serve as a technical advisor to management on the purchase of third-party tools and software implementation complexities to meet business requirements.
6. Collaborate on product strategy and report on implementation progress to the Chief Product Officer.
7. Maintain high product quality and velocity through proactive initiatives.

Requirements:

1. 10+ years of experience building and scaling enterprise-level SaaS platforms, preferably in digital content industry platforms.
2. 10+ years of experience with scalable applications, with a stack including PHP, Symfony, NodeJS, ReactJS, Elasticsearch, MySQL, Postgres, Redis; experience in cloud environments (preferably AWS) and DevOps concepts such as CI/CD, IaaC, Docker, ECS.
3. Strong experience with backend systems at scale, using RESTful APIs, GraphQL, autoscaling/load-balancing, containers, microservices.
4. Proven ability to build, deploy, and maintain complex, well-architected, testable application backends.
5. Exposure to data-intensive applications, big data storage, analysis, BI, and machine learning.
6. Excellent object-oriented programming and test-driven development skills.

Experience:

1. 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams of approximately 40+ people.
2. A proven track record of applying mature leadership and capacity to lead within the technology sector.
3. Ability to mitigate and resolve conflicts effectively.
4. Exceptional team player and people-oriented leader who balances people-first approach with business priorities.
