Position Title : Senior Virtualization Engineer

Location : Madrid, Spain.

Travel : Up to 6 months

Department : Global Event Infrastructure

Open to candidates who would require relocation.

Role Summary

This role involves the design, deployment, and management of IT and cloud infrastructure for a major global broadcast event. The engineer will oversee the project from planning to execution and manage a small technical team during operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Create project plans and manage timelines and milestones
2. Lead procurement processes (RFQs / RFPs) per company procedures
3. Support budget planning and resource allocation
4. Build team structure, hire and coordinate up to 6 engineers
5. Manage shift schedules and task assignments
6. Interface with vendors and internal stakeholders
7. Participate in cross-functional infrastructure planning groups
8. Design and implement cloud and virtualization solutions
9. Coordinate infrastructure deployments at host locations
10. Manage Linux / Windows-based systems and support cross-department needs
11. Monitor critical systems (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix)
12. Contribute to cybersecurity practices for technical systems
13. Serve as product owner in SCRUM-based software projects
14. Work with cloud video protocols (e.g., SRT, HLS) and media encoders / transcoders

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field
2. 5+ years in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, Proxmox)
3. Experience in cloud infrastructure, team coordination, and network technologies
4. Familiar with Docker, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), and stakeholder communication
5. Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities
