Job summary

SOTEC Consulting – Astek Group is seeking a Verification & Validation Engineer for Rail Networks & Cybersecurity to join an international railway project. You will contribute to validating onboard communication systems and network architectures.

The role requires strong V&V skills, a focus on cybersecurity, and collaboration with systems engineering across international teams. Travel for national and international assignments is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Industrial, Electronic or equivalent.
• 5–6 years of experience in Verification & Validation, preferably in rail.
• Experience in railway networks and railway cybersecurity is mandatory.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review verification and validation strategies.
• Define test plans for railway networks and communications.
• Conduct cybersecurity risk analysis.
• Validate onboard communication architectures and cloud integrations.
• Review security requirements and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with systems engineering and development teams.

About the Role

At SOTEC Consulting – Astek Group, we are looking for a Verification & Validation Engineer (Rail Networks & Cybersecurity) to join an international railway project.

The selected candidate will become part of the Verification & Validation Department, contributing to the validation of onboard communication systems and network architectures. The role focuses on ensuring that railway communication systems comply with security requirements, interoperability standards, and applicable regulations, while validating communication architectures from a cybersecurity perspective.

High level of English required (international project)

• Preparation and review of verification and validation strategies.
• Definition of test plans related to railway networks and communications.
• Cybersecurity risk analysis.
• Validation of onboard communication architectures.
• Technical review of security requirements.
• Evaluation of communications:
• Internal train communications.
• Train-to-ground communications.
• Associated cloud systems.
• Coordination with systems engineering and development teams.
• Review of compliance with applicable regulations.
• Degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5–6 years of experience.
• Mandatory experience in the railway sector.
• Mandatory experience in railway networks and railway cybersecurity.
• Availability for national and international travel.
• Verification & Validation (V&V).
• Railway communication networks.
• Railway cybersecurity.
• Systems architecture.
• Cybersecurity applied to railway or other complex environments.

Knowledge of:

• Onboard communications.
