Job summary

SOTEC Consulting – Astek Group is seeking a Verification & Validation Engineer (Cold Climate Testing) to join an international railway project. The role involves defining test strategies, planning tests, risk analysis, and validating railway systems in extreme cold, including up to -40°C conditions.

Occasional travel to Sweden is expected. The candidate will collaborate with engineering and validation teams globally, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and delivering robust

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Railway engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5–6 years of experience in V&V for railway systems.
• Ability to travel occasionally to Sweden for testing campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test plans for railway systems in extreme climates.
• Define validation scenarios and acceptance criteria.
• Identify and analyze technical risks for validation activities.
• Coordinate with engineering and validation teams across locations.
• Validate complex railway products under -40°C conditions.
• Monitor, document, and review results and compliance with regulations.
• Participate in national and international testing campaigns.

About the Role

At SOTEC Consulting – Astek Group, we are looking for a Verification & Validation Engineer (Cold Climate Testing) to join an international project within the railway sector.

The selected candidate will participate in verification and validation activities for railway rolling stock under extreme climatic conditions, contributing to the definition of test strategies, risk analysis, preparation of test plans, and validation of railway systems and trains in low-temperature environments.

High level of English required (international project)

• Preparation of test plans.
• Definition of validation scenarios.
• Identification and analysis of technical risks.
• Definition of acceptance criteria.
• Validation of railway systems under extreme climatic conditions.
• Coordination with engineering and validation teams.
• Participation in national and international testing campaigns.
• Technical support during test execution.
• Monitoring and documentation of results.
• Review of compliance with applicable regulations.
• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Railway Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5–6 years of experience.
• Availability for occasional travel to Sweden for testing campaigns.
• Verification & Validation (V&V).
• Preparation of test plans.

Knowledge of:

• V&V lifecycle.
• Interpretation of technical requirements.
• Behaviour of systems under extreme climatic conditions.

• Experience with railway standards related to validation.

• Participation in projects developed in Nordic countries.
• Experience with homologation testing under extreme conditions.
• Experience validating systems in environments down to -40°C.
