For my client – a leading pharmaceutical company in Barcelona, Spain – I am looking for an experienced IT project leader passionate about optimizing laboratory systems.

You will be part of the Innovation and Technology Development (I&TD;) team as a Project Leader / Technical Systems Owner where you will play a crucial role in developing and managing IT system landscapes to support cutting-edge research and development.

Key Responsibilities :

1. IT System Leadership & Integration : Develop IT system landscapes and communication frameworks in collaboration with Business Process Owners (BPOs) and IT partners, aligning with business and IT strategy.
2. Work closely with other IT Business Partners (ITBPs) to integrate lab processes across business domains.
3. Ensure seamless integration of quality processes across platforms within the I&TD; Lab team.
4. Collaborate with IT Infrastructure and IT Security teams to enforce corporate policies, including backups, disaster recovery, and data protection compliance.
5. Project Management & Execution : Lead project teams to successfully deliver projects on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
6. Apply strong change management methodologies to design and implement new processes in an international environment.
7. Manage the life cycle of validated applications in compliance with GxP regulations.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Serve as the key liaison between IT and R&D; lab teams to ensure alignment on system requirements and business objectives.
9. Provide strategic guidance on R&D; lab systems, including Empower, OpenLab, LIMS, LabX, and related platforms.
10. Foster intercultural collaboration across diverse teams and organizational levels.
11. Support succession planning by identifying and developing key competencies within the team.

Key Requirements :

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (B.Tech. / B.E.), MBA, or related field.
2. Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in R&D; lab systems within a regulated environment.
3. Proven expertise in change management and process design in an international setting (> 3 years).
4. Strong project and people management skills, with PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
5. Hands-on experience with R&D; lab systems (e.g., Empower, OpenLab, LIMS, LabX) and deep understanding of business processes.
6. General knowledge of cGMP compliance and validated application life cycle management.
