Role Summary
The main objective of this role is to assist the store management team in achieving a store environment that fosters creativity, employee development, and the UO VIBE philosophy. Maintain Urban Outfitters' "Peers Training Peers" philosophy.
What You'll Be Doing
People and Team:
- Ability to recruit, motivate, develop, and lead a team.
- Manage aspects of performance development within the department team (Performance evaluations, individual development plans, training, coaching, and disciplinary actions).
- Recognize and develop talented individuals for advancement and growth within the organization.
- Meet Company standards and act as a positive role model for others.
Leadership and Communication:
- Lead the way by inspiring, motivating, and fostering teamwork.
- Conduct productive daily meetings to ensure goals are met.
- Delegate projects effectively while allowing others the creativity to succeed by making their own decisions.
- Possess excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
Sales Floor Management:
- Oversee all levels of customer service by setting daily goals and expectations to create a positive store environment.
- Demonstrate excellent point-of-sale presence by training and coaching the store team on customer service, standards, product placement, and time management.
- Achieve average results in the Company's KPIs by guiding the team to maintain customer service standards to meet objectives.
Operations:
- Perform all store-level operational procedures accurately and in a timely manner, in accordance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Achieve store loss prevention objectives by monitoring compliance with procedures.
- Assist in complying with health and safety regulations at all times to protect employees and customers from accidents and incidents.
Product and Visual Management:
- Manage aspects of the assigned department in collaboration with the department manager (if applicable) or the Visual Merchandising Manager regarding: training, product placement, markdowns, transfers, merchandising, and store standards.
- Understand and interpret current fashion trends in local markets to generate creative solutions.
- Play an active role in ensuring visual changes for the department are well organized and scheduled appropriately.
Business Awareness:
- Maximize departmental sales through analytical and creative management of merchandise from receipt to sale.
- Utilize company reports to respond to trends and drive business.
- Stay current with current trends and have a solid understanding of the customer profile by keeping up with external influences, i.e., media and local community.
- Manage stock levels appropriately (considering the store environment) through an understanding of relevant reports and market trends.
- Demonstrate business acumen to achieve and exceed store objectives.
What You'll Need
- Experience in a management position working in a high-volume, fast-paced retail fashion environment.
- Demonstrates strong operational skills.
- An understanding of Urban Outfitters culture and its appeal to the local market.
- Ability to drive sales through excellent service, strong visual presentation, and comprehensive business understanding.
