Job Description: Energy and Construction Underwriter - Spain

You will join the Spanish Property Energy and Construction Underwriting team, interacting with professionals, underwriters, and technical experts to develop your potential within AXA XL. This role offers insights and professionalism in a vibrant organization that values its people, inclusion, and wellbeing.

Mission: To deliver profitable underwriting services to clients and contribute to a profitable portfolio aligned with the Business Plan. You will represent AXA XL in the market, building high-quality relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues across Claims Operations and other functions.

This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness and Probity regime.

Responsibilities

1. Underwrite Energy business within the agreed parameters: analyze risks, negotiate premiums, terms, and conditions, ensure adequate reinsurance, and monitor premium income.
2. Support business planning and forecasting processes.
3. Identify and develop opportunities for profitable business with new and existing customers.
4. Develop relationships with stakeholders, including brokers, clients, risk managers, and account managers.
5. Collaborate with the Distribution Team to provide effective service.
6. Design and structure risks, monitor financial exposure.
7. Maintain awareness of claims and support claims settlement processes.
8. Update policy wordings to comply with legal and market developments.
9. Ensure accurate information transfer to Operations and Claims teams.
10. Continuously evaluate and improve systems, processes, and procedures for efficiency.

You will report to the Property, Energy, and Construction Underwriter Manager for Iberia.

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of the insurance industry, energy business, competitors, products, profitability concepts.
• Fluent in Spanish and English, with strong communication skills.
• Customer-focused, able to understand and anticipate client needs, and co-develop solutions.
• Efficient in managing interactions and influencing stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills for risk analysis.
• Ability to work in diverse teams across cultures and locations.
