Dormont Manufacturing Co in Madrid is seeking an Underwriter A&H for a temporary position of 6 months. The role involves underwriting new and renewal business, while fostering relationships with brokers and clients. The ideal candidate should have underwriting experience in A&H or related lines, and be fluent in both Spanish and English.

Formación

• Experience in A&H or related lines such as Group, Individual PA, Travel, Expat Medical.
• Fluency in both Spanish and English; Portuguese is a plus.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Underwriter A&H (Temporary - 6 months)

About the role

Underwriter, A&H Spain, reporting to the Lead UW, Spain will contribute by underwriting new & renewal business, developing, and maintaining relationships with new and existing brokers, building strong client relationships, and working to carry out agreed strategies.

Job Responsibilities

• Build and maintain appropriate, strong, and effective business relationships with key stakeholders (Claims, Operations, Legal, Risk and Distribution Teams).
• Ensure governance, pricing adequacy, and underwriting discipline.
• Coordinate underwriting excellence across the A&H product line, by establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, line setting, standards, and guidelines, and ensure rating and pricing adequacy.
• Support the development of new products and/or product enhancements.
• Proficient knowledge of key regulatory requirements.
• Ensure that AIG customers are treated fairly in accordance with AIG standards and maintain high service levels to both internal and external customers.
• Support the team within administrative duties for all clients, brokers and minor lines.

Job Requirements (What we’re looking for)

• Some underwriting experience in A&H or related lines (Group and Individual PA, Travel, Expat Medical, Specialty Business, Affinity, among others).
• Language skills: Business‑fluent Spanish and English required; Portuguese is a plus.
• Knowledge of the Spanish insurance market and broker landscape.
• Portfolio discipline and problem‑solving orientation (willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, decision‑making, and negotiation capabilities.
• Integrator: Collaborate with multiple technical, functional, distribution and client/broker management resources, local, regional, and global, across the wider business.
