Thales Alenia Space in Madrid/Tres Cantos is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop Python and C++ software for spacecraft testing. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to build reliable verification tools, understand spacecraft interfaces and translate requirements into robust software solutions.

You will deliver software for automated testing, participate in lab validations, and write technical documentation in English.

Formación

• Demonstrated 3+ years in software development, integration or testing in complex engineering environments.
• Experience with automated testing and software validation in lab or integration setups.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop and validate Python and C++ libraries, scripts and drivers for spacecraft test environments.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to validate test benches and integration workflows.
• Support electrical, functional and performance testing of spacecraft equipment in labs.
• Produce high-quality documentation and participate in project reviews in English.
• Contribute to continuous improvement with innovative software practices.

• You are analytical, structured and detail‑oriented.

• You communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Competencies

• You have solid experience in Python and C++ software development, applying object‑oriented design principles and developing maintainable, high‑quality code.
• You have experience developing software for automated testing, electrical verification or integration activities.
• You are familiar with software validation, debugging and troubleshooting in laboratory or integration environments. You have experience working with measurement and control equipment and communication interfaces.
• You have a good understanding of software integration processes and technical documentation.
• You are comfortable understanding technical specifications, test plans and engineering procedures.
• You have experience working with version control systems.
• You demonstrate autonomy, ownership and commitment to cost, schedule and quality objectives.
• You are fluent in English.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the space, aerospace or defence industry.
• Experience with electronic instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, spectrum analysers or power meters.
• Knowledge of LabVIEW FPGA, multithreading, embedded systems, hardware/software integration or firmware development.

Life as a Senior Software Engineer at Thales Alenia Space

As a Senior Software Engineer within Thales Alenia Space, you will contribute to the development of software solutions that enable the electrical testing and verification of spacecraft equipment and subsystems.

• Design, develop and validate software libraries, scripts, drivers and processing tools for spacecraft test means.
• Develop robust software solutions in Python and C++ for automated test environments.
• Understand spacecraft interfaces, test plans and engineering requirements to deliver reliable verification software.
