Position: Technical Applications Scientist 2 - Madrid, Spain

Office working arrangement: Onsite

Contract: 12-month fixed term (maternity cover)

As a Technical Applications Scientist 2 at Illumina Madrid, you will support internal and external customers on all relevant Illumina products. You will specialize in a workflow, often developing a second, working independently with high technical expertise. Responsibilities include adhering to work instructions, maintaining ISO accreditation, and collaborating internally to resolve escalated customer issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge in molecular biology, with experience in sequencing or BeadArray, and familiarity with Illumina NGS platforms and tools.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English; Italian is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, experience in technical support or call centers.
  • Ability to build internal networks, self-motivated, proactive.
  • Willingness to travel and experience in ISO-certified environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support via phone and email, addressing customer inquiries and issues.
  • Research and resolve routine and complex issues within specialized workflows.
  • Document interactions in SFDC and respond professionally.
  • Create and update technical documents, training materials, webinars, and KnowledgeBase articles.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with Illumina's products.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve escalated issues.
  • Manage key accounts as the TAS representative if needed.
  • Follow health and safety protocols and work instructions.
  • Maintain ISO standards through good practices.
