Sanoma Learning’s NPM train is looking for a BackEnd developer to join our vibrant, international team. We’re a group of enthusiastic, friendly, and talented individuals dedicated to revolutionizing primary education. As a BackEnd developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering our platform for primary education, used by tens of thousands of teachers and students. You will contribute to innovative solutions that meet the needs of educators and learners alike.

We offer two work models: hybrid (3 days from home, 2 in the office) or remote with occasional visits to our Barcelona office. Work must be performed exclusively from Spain.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical leadership by guiding development teams on best practices, coding standards, and architectural decisions;
• Participating actively in the Tech Lead Forum to facilitate communication between Architecture and DevOps teams;
• Working on Proof-of-Concepts to assess new technologies that benefit architectural goals and engineering processes;
• Collaborating across teams, including Architecture Office, DevOps, and Product Management;
• Translating high-level architectural visions into practical implementation strategies, including effort estimation;
• Mentoring teams to improve their maturity and skills;
• Sharing technical knowledge broadly to demonstrate thought leadership.

We seek a candidate with strong technical expertise, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to contribute to system improvements and team success.

Responsibilities also include developing and enhancing application features using Python 3.12, FastAPI, PHP 8+, and Laravel 9+ for backend development, collaborating with cross-functional teams, optimizing system performance, and working with Docker and Kubernetes for deployment. Strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure and experience with databases like MongoDB and MySQL are essential. Adherence to best practices in CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud-native development is expected. Writing clean, modular, and well-documented code, conducting code reviews, and supporting testing are also key.

Minimum requirements include:

• Proficiency in Python 3.12, FastAPI, PHP 8+, Laravel 9+, and reactive programming;
• Deep knowledge of AWS infrastructure;
• Experience with debugging, maintaining, and supporting large-scale live systems;
• Experience designing microservice architectures;
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases;
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket);
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments;
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and SOLID principles;
• Fluent in both Spanish and English, spoken and written.
