Sanoma Learning’s NPM train is looking for a BackEnd developer to join our vibrant, international team. We’re a group of enthusiastic, friendly, and talented individuals dedicated to revolutionizing primary education. As a BackEnd developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering our platform for primary education, used by tens of thousands of teachers and students. You will contribute to innovative solutions that meet the needs of educators and learners alike.

We offer two work models: hybrid (3 days from home, 2 in the office) or remote with occasional visits to our Barcelona office. Work must be performed exclusively from Spain.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical leadership and guiding development teams on best practices, coding standards, and architectural decisions;
• Participating in governance and facilitating communication between Architecture and DevOps teams;
• Working on Proof-of-Concepts to assess new technologies and tools benefiting architectural goals and engineering processes;
• Collaborating across teams, including Architecture Office, DevOps, and Product Management;
• Translating high-level architectural visions into practical implementation strategies;
• Mentoring DevOps teams to improve their maturity and skills;
• Sharing technical knowledge and demonstrating thought leadership.

We seek a candidate with strong technical expertise, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to contribute to system improvements and team success.

Development tasks include building and enhancing application features using Python 3.12, FastAPI, PHP 8+, Laravel 9+, and working with Docker and Kubernetes to deploy microservices.

Must-have skills include:

• Proficiency in Python 3.12, FastAPI, PHP 8+, Laravel 9+, and async/reactive programming;
• Strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure;
• Experience with debugging, supporting large-scale systems, and designing microservice architectures;
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as MongoDB and MySQL;
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket);
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and understanding software design patterns and SOLID principles;
• Fluent in both Spanish and English, written and spoken.
