Sanoma Learning’s NPM train is looking for a BackEnd developer to join our vibrant, international team. We’re a group of enthusiastic, friendly, and talented individuals dedicated to revolutionizing primary education. As a BackEnd developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering our platform for primary education, used by tens of thousands of teachers and students. You will contribute to innovative solutions that meet the needs of educators and learners alike.

We offer two work models: hybrid (3 days from home, 2 in the office) or remote with occasional visits to our Barcelona office. Work must be performed exclusively from Spain.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical leadership and guiding development teams on best practices, coding standards, and architectural decisions;
• Participating actively in the Tech Lead Forum to facilitate communication between Architecture and DevOps teams;
• Working on Proof-of-Concepts to assess new technologies, tools, and techniques beneficial for architectural goals and customer needs;
• Collaborating across teams including Architecture Office, CLS and non-CLS DevOps teams, and Product Management;
• Translating high-level architectural visions into practical implementation strategies, including effort estimation;
• Mentoring DevOps teams to grow their maturity by addressing knowledge and skill gaps;
• Sharing technical thought leadership with a broader audience.

We seek a candidate with strong technical expertise, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to contribute to system improvements and team success.

Responsibilities include developing and enhancing application features using Python 3.12, FastAPI, PHP 8+, and Laravel 9+ for the backend, collaborating with cross-functional teams, optimizing system performance, working with Docker and Kubernetes for deployment, and ensuring efficient database management with MongoDB and MySQL.

Must-have requirements:

• Proficiency in Python 3.12, FastAPI, PHP 8+, Laravel 9+, and reactive programming;
• Strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure;
• Experience supporting large-scale live systems and designing microservice architectures;
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases;
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket);
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments;
• Solid understanding of software design patterns and SOLID principles;
• Fluent in both Spanish and English, spoken and written.
