Job Description

At the Telco Hub in Madrid we pioneer the merging of IT and telco, building and scaling telco as a platform (TaaP) on our proprietary layered cloud. Our teams operate in cross‑country and cross‑functional squads, delivering cutting‑edge services to Europe’s most valued operator.

The DNS Squad (12 members) holds end‑to‑end responsibility for the resolving and authoritative DNS systems for Deutsche Telekom AG. These platforms are part of critical infrastructure and central core components of our German network. We need a System Engineer to join our team for the resolving DNS platforms that handle DNS requests for mobile, fixed, and IoT networks.

Responsibilities

• Implement and operate physical, virtualized, and containerized system environments – focusing on a new IoT resolving platform in Kubernetes.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and document system malfunctions. Perform regular checks and refine automated processes and strategies such as failover, deployment, and disaster recovery to ensure a highly available and resilient system with minimum recovery time.
• Identify, document, and structure new test use cases; develop and optimize scripts (Ansible, Bash, Perl, Python).
• Implement changes in test, reference, and production systems to enhance stability or provide new features.
• Develop new methods and tools for data analysis and monitoring.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and the German operations team to streamline processes, enhance software, tools, and system performance, and apply innovative technologies and concepts.

Qualifications

Mandatory skills:

• Fundamental knowledge of DNS (PowerDNS, DoH/DoT/DoQ); preferably experience in a telco company.
• Extensive know‑how in working with Kubernetes to orchestrate CNFs.
• Proficiency in using and adapting configurations for K8s.
• Experience with IP networks, router and LAN/WAN technologies, and troubleshooting with tracing tools (e.g., Wireshark).
• Hands‑on experience with monitoring systems and data analytics (Prometheus, Medusa, etc.).

Optional skills:

• Very good analytical skills combined with strong quality awareness.
• Experience in classic and agile forms of cooperation.

Considerations

Being on‑call for around 8 weeks per year and rarely performing tasks outside of regular working hours.
