Our client, an international industrial technology group, is looking for a Strategic SAP Program Manager to join its IT organization in Barcelona, on a permanent basis.

We are looking for a Senior Program Manager, based in Barcelona, with a strong track record of having led multiple large-scale SAP or S/4HANA programs — not just one.

This is a program delivery position, not an organizational build-out role.

Establishing the business domain organization and hub team is the responsibility of other positions within the new operating model. The focus of this role is to drive large-scale, business-critical programs through to production.

Location: Barcelona. Hybrid, with regular on-site presence required.

Contract: Permanent.

Start: As soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex SAP projects and programs end-to-end across functions, regions, teams, and business process areas.
• Consolidate the three independent SAP projects into one integrated program, with unified governance, planning, and reporting.
• Manage SAP transformation, rollout, migration, upgrade, integration, and optimization initiatives, including the transition to RISE / cloud.
• Govern the corporate and financial scope of the headquarters relocation within SAP, including inventory ownership, intercompany orders, plant structures, costing, cost allocation, and transfer pricing.
• Lead large-scale data migration initiatives and ensure business continuity throughout transitions.
• Define scope, objectives, deliverables, success criteria, assumptions, and dependencies in close alignment with business and IT stakeholders.
• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, milestones, budgets, resource plans, and cutover activities.
• Identify, assess, and manage risks, issues, dependencies, changes, and escalations.
• Drive structured stakeholder management between the German organization and the Barcelona teams.
• Ensure compliance with project governance, portfolio standards, and reporting routines.
• Align delivery with the Group's technology strategy and enterprise architecture.
• Ensure delivery is aligned with SAP architecture principles and integration requirements.
• Coordinate testing, training, change management, cutover, go-live readiness, hypercare, and transition to operations.
• Coordinate SAP functional teams, development and Basis teams, business process owners and key users, as well as external implementation partners.

What we are looking for:

• Multiple large-scale programs delivered to production. This is the primary filter. Participation is not enough; the candidate must have personally led the programs.
• Experience bringing order to parallel projects. The first assignment is to consolidate three independent projects into one integrated program, which requires both strong methodology and political/stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of the corporate and tax implications of a headquarters relocation within SAP. Intercompany processes, transfer pricing, and plant structures are not merely technical details — they are central components of the program.
• Ability to work across SAP and non-SAP silos. This is a stated organizational gap, and the role will need to bridge these teams continuously.

Professional background

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a comparable discipline.
• Proven track record of leading multiple large-scale SAP or S/4HANA programs through to production, rather than simply initiating or participating in them.
• Experience with RISE / SAP cloud migrations.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end SAP business processes and modules such as FI/CO, SD, MM, PP, SCM, EWM, BW/BI, or Basis, as well as the associated integration areas. The role requires someone capable of governing the overall landscape rather than a specialist focused on a single module.
• Experience with SAP implementation, rollout, migration, upgrade, or transformation initiatives, preferably in S/4HANA environments.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional SAP teams, process owners, key users, external partners, and technical teams.
• Experience with large-scale data migrations and changes to corporate structures or plant structures.
• Experience with costing, cost allocation, and transfer pricing is a plus.
• Project management certification such as PMI, PRINCE2, IPMA, or equivalent Agile frameworks.
• Experience coordinating multicultural and international teams, ideally with exposure to German organizations.
• Spanish and English are mandatory. German is a significant advantage, given the ongoing interaction with the German organization.
• Residency in Barcelona or willingness to relocate -- The team needs to meet regularly in person, so being based in Barcelona or being willing to relocate is a genuine requirement for the role.
