About The Role

Are you ready for an incredible adventure? We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer. If you're excited to unlock the full potential of our platform, leveraging Generative AI and Elixir / Phoenix alongside talented engineers, you'll be a great fit. We want to expand our team with passionate professionals eager to stay on the cutting edge of technology!

At Workera, we encourage each engineer to be a product engineer—empowered, user-focused, and passionate about delivering delightful user experiences. We organize small project teams (2-3 people) following the ShapeUp methodology, working in deep-dives for 6 weeks to solve specific business problems. Teams have autonomy to design solutions, own the entire feature lifecycle, and collaborate closely with product managers and designers.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop LLM-powered applications, including agentic workflows, RAG systems, and voice interfaces, from concept to deployment.
• Build scalable, robust architectures with a focus on observability and continuous feedback.

About Your Team

You will join a team of 6 engineers supported by a product designer, product manager, and engineering manager. Our team is distributed across the EMEA region, valuing deep work and asynchronous communication, with minimal regular meetings.

What You’ll Do

Within 3 months:

• Complete onboarding and contribute to projects involving technical and product uncertainties.
• Explore and prototype LLM applications, helping refine user experiences.
• Troubleshoot issues across frontend, backend, and AI features.

Within 9 months:

• Lead the development of a GenAI-powered feature from idea to production.
• Shape Workera’s approach to AI-native applications.

What You’ll Bring

This role suits those who thrive in autonomous environments, balancing pragmatism with future-proofing, and eager to learn new technologies like functional programming.

• Strong interest and experience in Generative AI, voice applications a plus.
• 5+ years in backend software development, with SaaS or startup experience preferred. Frontend experience is a bonus.
• Experience building scalable systems, ideally with Elixir / Phoenix, Go, Erlang, or Clojure. Willingness to learn new tech is valued.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, GitHub, Slack, and remote work for 2+ years.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
