Shipco IT in Barcelona seeks an experienced Sr. Associate – Business Analyst to own the full business analysis lifecycle from objectives to adoption. You will liaise between business and technology, optimize processes, and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

You will collaborate with global cross-functional teams, mentor junior analysts, and ensure solutions meet business goals and technical excellence in a dynamic, global environment.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent).
  • 10+ years as a Business Analyst with IT project exposure; shipping/logistics experience desired.
  • Ability to translate business needs into actionable specifications and documentation.
  • CBAP or equivalent certifications are preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and process improvements.
  • Proficiency with UML, BPMN, Visio; experience with JIRA/Confluence; SQL; BI tools; API testing.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to take ownership of the full business analysis lifecycle – from defining business objectives and shaping solution strategies to ensuring successful implementation and adoption. Acting as a trusted liaison between business and technology, you’ll play a key role in optimizing processes, improving system capabilities, and enabling better decision-making across the organization.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with global cross-functional teams, mentor junior analysts, and ensure that every solution delivered meets both business goals and technical excellence. What You'll Do…
  • Elicit, Analyze, and Document Requirements: Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to gather, analyze, and prioritize business requirements and feedback. Translate these into clear use cases, user stories, functional specifications, and business requirement documents (BRDs).
  • Solution Design & Implementation Support: Work closely with technical and business teams to design, document, and implement system solutions that align with business needs. Prepare requirement scope documents, mockups, and coordinate approvals during the solution design process.
  • Process Analysis & Optimization: Evaluate and document existing business processes, develop process models and workflows, and recommend innovative and practical improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Risk Assessment & Prioritization: Assess risks and impacts associated with proposed solutions and designs, and effectively prioritize competing business demands to ensure project success.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams throughout the specification, testing, and implementation phases to ensure seamless communication and delivery.
  • BRD Oversight & Query Resolution: Follow up on technical BRD preparation by IT teams, ensuring timely reviews and approvals while resolving any functional queries that arise.
  • Testing, Validation & UAT Coordination: Support solution validation by delivering requirement walkthroughs, assisting in system testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and coordinating signoffs from business users to confirm solution readiness. Ensure Quality Standards: Validate that developed solutions meet defined business and technical requirements, maintaining alignment with established quality standards.
  • Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Maintain comprehensive business process and system documentation, including flowcharts, data models, and business rules. Stay current with industry best practices, tools, and methodologies to continuously improve analysis quality and project delivery.
  • End-to-End Business Analysis Ownership: Lead and manage the Business Analysis process across projects, ensuring governance, stakeholder alignment, clear prioritization of initiatives, and support for the product roadmap.
  • Leadership, Mentorship & BA Framework Development: Lead and mentor junior business analysts, including coaching, reviewing deliverables, and driving continuous improvement in BA practices and frameworks.
What You’ll Need…
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field with equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years as a Business Analyst with prior exposure to IT projects; experience in Shipping, Logistics, or Supply Chain is highly desirable.
  • Hands‑on experience in requirement gathering, functional documentation, stakeholder communication, and testing coordination, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable specifications.
  • Advanced certifications such a CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or equivalent are preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights; keen attention to detail in identifying and implementing improved workflows and solutions.
  • Proficiency in tools and techniques such as UML, BPMN, use cases, Microsoft Visio, JIRA, Confluence, and SQL; experience with data visualization (Power BI/Tableau) and API testing (SoapUI/Postman) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies; Scrum Certification is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, business teams, and external partners.
  • Strong documentation and formatting skills in English, with the ability to produce clear and well‑structured requirement materials.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Leads and mentors junior business analysts, including coaching, reviewing deliverables, and driving continuous improvement in BA practices and frameworks.
  • Skilled in performing feasibility studies and impact assessments and serving as a trusted liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams at a global scale.
