A national research organization is seeking a technician in Girona, Spain to evaluate river stewardship agreements. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Geography, or Environmental Engineering, and have experience in fieldwork and impact assessment. Fluency in Catalan and Spanish is required. This part-time position starts on October 1, 2025.

OFFER DESCRIPTION

The project aims to evaluate the impact of river stewardship agreements promoted by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) and to analyze the feasibility of their territorial expansion. Within this framework, ICRA will carry out specific technical tasks.

Firstly, 15 representative agreements will be analyzed through document review, field visits and interviews with the involved entities, assessing their ecological, social and economic impact.

Secondly, the project will contribute to identifying territories with potential for model expansion, through the analysis of the ecological status of water bodies, mapping of environmental organizations, and application of a multicriteria analysis model for territorial prioritization. Stakeholder consultations will also be conducted to validate the criteria and results.

The technician will support tasks related to agreement analysis, fieldwork, evaluation methodology implementation and territorial prioritization models.

KEY DUTIES

-Document review and analysis of 15 river stewardship agreements.

-Data collection through field visits and interviews with environmental organisations.

-Application of ecological, social and economic impact evaluation methodologies.

-Identification of territories with potential for expanding the stewardship model.

-Cartography and application of a multicriteria analysis model.

-Support for participatory consultations with key stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Must have – Required

Research Field or Field of knowledge:

Water resources management, fluvial ecology, territorial stewardship, aquatic ecosystem conservation.

Qualifications and Education Level:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Geography or Environmental Engineering. A Master’s in water management or applied ecology is desirable.

Skills:

Fieldwork, conducting interviews, technical writing, use of GIS tools, impact assessment, multicriteria analysis.

Required Languages:

Catalan and Spanish (fluent), English (intermediate-high level, especially technical comprehension and writing).

Required Experience:

Previous experience in projects related to water management, river conservation or land stewardship, work with environmental entities and field work will be positively valued..

Experience in the evaluation of ecological and socio-economic indicators of restoration and familiarity with the legal framework of land stewardship in Catalonia

Selection process:
