‘Barcelona Pool House’

Located on ‘Avinguda Tibidabo’, our third House in the city will include a state-of-the-art gym, a full-service spa and hair salon, an 18m outdoor pool, a café, plus two floors of club space with a revolving restaurant concept.

The Role...

As a Sous Chef at Soho House, your role is to deliver a consistently high standard of food for our members and guests and support your Head/Exec Chef in planning, organizing, and managing the kitchen according to company policies and standards.

Main Duties ...

  1. Recruit, train, and assign tasks to help build a strong team.
  2. Ensure all food hygiene and safety measures are in place and work alongside the Head Chef to deliver a high-quality dining experience.
  3. Represent the company in all that you do. Be a role model to your team in terms of appearance, discipline, and conduct, always showcasing Soho House values.
  4. Lead by example alongside the Head Chef to deliver high-quality and efficient dining experiences for members and guests.
  5. Work alongside the Head Chef to monitor and improve the food offering, updating menus to reflect our food philosophy, seasonal offerings, and member preferences.
  6. Support the Head Chef to oversee the entire kitchen operation ensuring efficiency, consistency, and adherence to quality standards.
  7. Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to standard.
  8. Assist with purchasing and cost control according to budgetary goals.
  9. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within a diverse team.
  10. Ensure teamwork and synergy across all departments through clear, respectful communication.
  11. Support recruitment and onboarding of new staff according to staffing levels.
  12. Track team learning and development, including the Cookhouse program, to enhance skills and passion for food.
  13. Manage staff schedules, holiday requests, payroll, and HR issues in collaboration with the People Team.
  14. Ensure all food hygiene and safety policies are followed, along with local and company compliance policies, procedures, and standards.
  15. Delegate tasks and complete daily checklists to support business levels, production, orders, special requests, events, dietary restrictions, and allergy procedures.
  16. Maintain standards for food quality, COGS, and margins to increase profits without sacrificing taste or member/guest experience.
  17. Enforce proper storage procedures and equipment maintenance.
  18. Deliver high-quality team meals with varied options suitable for all dietary requirements.
  19. Conduct health & safety audits, monitor feedback reports, and control costs related to wages, food, and wastage.
  20. Achieve financial targets related to EBITDA, member retention, and staff retention.

Requirements ...

A successful Sous Chef at Soho House will ideally have 3-5 years’ experience in a busy high-profile kitchen and a natural flair for first-class service. You should be reliable, friendly, and a key team player striving for success.

Experience managing P&L, labor, purchasing, vendors, and quality control is essential. You must have strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, fluency in English and Spanish, and be organized and reliable. Ability to work effectively within a diverse team is also required.
