The ideal candidate will possess a university degree in Engineering or Business, relevant qualifications, and up to 5 years of experience in EHS, preferably in an industrial environment.

Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Alstom

Could you be the full-time EHS expert in Madrid we're looking for?
Your future role

We are seeking a dedicated professional to manage, perform, and ensure the activities related to Health and Safety are applied in our projects. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (engineering, project management), coordinate the Health and Safety area for Maintenance Services projects, and more. You will provide technical expertise, guidance, and support at every step of the project lifecycle, as well as technical EHS leadership in Maintenance Services Projects.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Supporting the Site EHS manager on EHS topics.
  2. Performing EHS Risk Assessments and planning preventive activities to define measures for controlling risks in assigned projects/depots.
  3. Preparing, implementing, and maintaining emergency plans.
  4. Coordinating activities respecting EHS standards, especially where interfaces involve other contractors or operational areas.
  5. Developing and maintaining the Site EHS Management System, ensuring alignment with international standards (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).
  6. Maintaining EHS files and records.
  7. Ensuring compliance with EHS plans, guidelines, work instructions, and legal requirements.
  8. Developing EHS culture on-site through informing, instructing, and training employees.
  9. Conducting EHS visits to projects and depots.
About you

We value passion and attitude over experience. While not all skills are required, the following will help you succeed:

  • University degree in Engineering or Business, with a recognized Health & Safety qualification in Spain.
  • MS in Prevention of Occupational Risks or related environmental qualifications are desirable.
  • Up to 5 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year in EHS.
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing sites; railway environment experience is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001; internal auditor certification is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of local legal requirements.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
