Description

Over the past several years, we have undergone significant positive change and growth, becoming the company we are today. Our global footprint spans multiple countries, offering our employees exposure to diverse cultures and markets. We are seeking a Java developer to participate in a "Regulatory data exchange" project. The role involves working across all layers of the project to develop self-sufficient solutions.

The project primarily utilizes Java, along with various open-source frameworks including Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Scala, Hadoop, and Angular. While the focus is on backend development, experience with a broad range of backend skills is highly valued.

About the role & team

We are a small, dedicated team of 2 developers based in Valencia, responsible for one of Confluence's flagship products, Silverfinch. Silverfinch is a data exchange and distribution platform used mainly by asset managers and investors. Although primarily in maintenance mode after 10+ years, the addition of a third team member will enable us to upgrade and enhance the product further.

The project involves high complexity, particularly with big data. This role offers an excellent challenge for growth. Working hours are typically 8 hours per day, with flexibility for start times (8-5pm or 9-6pm). Daily stand-up meetings are held, and once trained, team members will own parts of the application. Flexibility in working hours may be necessary, and occasional after-hours on-call responsibilities might be required.

Required skills & experience

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• Quality-oriented, self-motivated, quick learner
• Familiarity with Java open-source ecosystem

Desired skills (not essential)

• Spark and Hadoop
• Experience with MVC projects
• Relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with Jooq or similar ORM tools
• Scala
• Solid experience with Git
• Experience with functional programming
• Yarn / Zookeeper
