Description

Over the past several years we have undergone a great deal of positive change and growth to become the company we are today. Our global footprint now spans multiple countries, giving our employees the opportunity to get exposure to other countries and cultures. We are looking for a Java developer to take part in a "Regulatory data exchange" project. The position will require moving around every layer of the project allowing you to be self-sufficient in the long run.

The project is developed mainly in Java, around many other different open source frameworks which include : Springboot, Postgres, Scala, Hadoop, Angular. We want to put focus on the backend aspects of the project, so a wider range of backend skills and experience will be appreciated.

More about the role & team

We are a small development team of 2 developers based in Valencia with full ownership over one of Confluence's flagship software products called Silverfinch. It is a data exchange and distribution platform which is mainly used by asset managers and investors. Silverfinch has been running for 10+ years and is mainly in maintenance mode, however, with the addition of a 3rd team member we will be able to do upgrades to enhance the product and add new features to help it run better.

The complexity of the project is high, as it involves big data. This is an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself. Working hours are 8 hours per day, typically 8-5pm or 9-6pm. Daily stand-up meetings. Once trained, individual will have ownership over parts of the application. Confluence is a global workforce, so flexibility of work hours may be necessary. In some cases, although rare, developers may need to be available for after hours on-call responsibilities.

What skills and experience do I need to succeed?

Required skills & experience

• 5+ years software development experience
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written
• Quality-oriented, self-motivated, fast learner
• Familiarity with Java open source ecosystem

Desired skills (not essential)

• Spark and Hadoop
• Experience working in MVC projects.
• Relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Some familiarity with Jooq or similar ORM alternatives
• Scala
• Solid experience with Git
• Experience on functional programming approach
• Yarn / Zookeeper
• Ambari / Cloudera Manager / Other cluster provisioning platforms
• Hbase / HDFS
• Vagrant or other similar platform virtualization tools.
• Chef
• Gradle
• Front-end skills based on angular and bootstrap.
• Experience with TDD practices
• Prior knowledge on financial regulations.
