Description

Over the past several years, we have undergone significant positive change and growth to become the company we are today. Our global footprint now spans multiple countries, offering our employees exposure to diverse cultures. We are seeking a Java developer to participate in a "Regulatory data exchange" project. The role involves working across all layers of the project to develop self-sufficiency.

The project is primarily developed in Java, utilizing various open source frameworks including Spring Boot, Postgres, Scala, Hadoop, and Angular. Emphasis is placed on backend development, so a broad range of backend skills and experience will be valued.

About the role & team

We are a small team of 2 developers based in Valencia, owning one of Confluence's flagship products, Silverfinch. It is a data exchange and distribution platform used mainly by asset managers and investors. Although Silverfinch has been in maintenance mode for over 10 years, with the addition of a third team member, we plan to implement upgrades and new features to improve the product.

The project is complex, involving big data. This presents an excellent challenge for professional growth. Working hours are typically 8 am to 5 pm or 9 am to 6 pm, including daily stand-ups. After training, team members will have ownership of parts of the application. Flexibility in work hours may be required due to our global team, and occasional after-hours on-call duties might be necessary.

Required skills & experience

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Fluency in English (spoken and written)
• Quality-oriented, self-motivated, quick learner
• Familiarity with Java open source ecosystem

Desired skills (not essential)

• Spark and Hadoop
• Experience with MVC projects
• Relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with Jooq or similar ORM tools
• Scala
• Solid experience with Git
• Experience with functional programming
• Yarn / Zookeeper
• Cluster provisioning platforms like Ambari or Cloudera Manager
• HBase / HDFS
• Vagrant or similar virtualization tools
