What this job offers you

This is an exciting opportunity to join Remote as a Senior Legal Counsel - Employment within our Legal Team. You will help deliver pragmatic and innovative legal solutions, ensuring compliance and protecting Remote from risks as we expand globally.

The Legal Team oversees the legal aspects of our business models, contracts, employment compliance, and data protection. This role is part of the Employment, Product & Commercial Legal sub-team, working closely with a diverse group of talented lawyers across countries.

We empower team members to own their projects, supported by our Chief Legal Officer. Our Employment Specialists support employee lifecycle management, compliance across jurisdictions, and international expansion.

If you are passionate about combining local legal expertise with global reach, this role is for you.

Expertise

You must be a qualified and licensed employment lawyer in Spain with deep practical knowledge of Spanish labor law—covering onboarding, contracts, benefits, employee relations, and terminations.

You will be the go-to expert for Spain, advising on compliance and employee lifecycle issues, and collaborating on international employment challenges within our global legal team.

Key responsibilities

  1. Advise on employment law issues across jurisdictions, including complex employee matters.
  2. Create and maintain template contracts and resources.
  3. Ensure Remote's workforce compliance worldwide.
  4. Contribute to strategic planning and business model development.
  5. Solve legal issues proactively.
  6. Collaborate cross-functionally to meet project goals and manage risks.
  7. Expand your legal knowledge base within the team.
  8. Master employment law for specific regions and topics.
  9. Identify and address employment law issues across the company.

What you bring

  1. Experience in advisory and contentious employment law, covering the entire employee lifecycle.
  2. Interest in working for a tech-scaleup, particularly in HR-tech.
  3. Willingness to learn international employment law challenges.
  4. Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

Bonus points

  1. In-house experience.
  2. Knowledge of employment agreements in multiple countries.
  3. Experience in contentious employment work.
  4. Multilingual abilities.
  5. Experience working remotely.

Remote Compensation Philosophy

Remote offers fair, unbiased compensation and benefits worldwide, paying above local rates to support global talent and local economies. Salary ranges for this role are $54,400 - $91,000 USD, depending on various factors. Compensation is reviewed for internal mobility.
