What's Barkibu? Hey there! Barkibu is a tech company dedicated to ensuring dogs and cats receive the medical care they need without high expenses. We aim for a world where every pet can access top-tier healthcare without financial barriers. We're a team of pet lovers from various countries, now looking for a Software Engineer with an analytical mindset to help scale our systems as we grow internationally.
We’re building something meaningful, with a presence in 7 countries: Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, and Finland. Join us and be part of our exciting journey!
As a Software Engineer, you'll be part of our Claims team, responsible for the full development cycle of the reimbursement claims decision-making process. You'll analyze veterinary documents and invoices, implement automated validation systems, and work on everything from core strategy to deployment. This process handles over €50 million annually, with an opportunity to save €2 million, making this a high-impact role.
The Claims team automates pet health insurance claims processing. When pet parents visit the vet, they request reimbursement via our app by uploading documents. Our system analyzes these documents to make coverage decisions, handling complex scenarios like pre-existing conditions, waiting periods, and invoice evaluation.
You'll work on cutting-edge solutions using OCR, LLMs, and business rules to minimize claim resolution times, automate validation, improve user experience, detect fraud, and support veterinary decision-making. We also generate a database of structured clinical data for future innovations.
We're looking for someone curious, interested in multiple frameworks & languages, and eager to build the future of pet insurance with data, intelligence, and empathy. You will take ownership of features, acting as a Business Analyst, Project Manager, QA Specialist, and DevOps engineer.
You're the perfect fit if you have experience with complex challenges, are fluent in English (Spanish a plus), have a product mindset, enjoy ownership, and thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
What we offer includes a competitive salary, permanent contract, remote work in Spain, great work-life balance, support for learning and growth, 23 days of leave, online English classes, private health insurance, monthly aid for wellness, tax-free benefits, pet insurance, referral bonus, and an ASAP start date.
*We commit to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
