Descripción del empleo

We're looking for a product-oriented Software Engineer that enjoys taking ownership of complex problems with a big scope, working with end users and the rest of the engineering team to design and implement the best solution. At RapidAnd, we foster a streamlined work environment with minimal meetings, focusing on fast delivery and iteration. Our engineers have the freedom to work on multiple challenges from start to finish while being part of a team that upholds high standards for system architecture, code quality, and product usability.

What you’ll be working on

RapidAnd makes it possible for residents of small countries and regions like Andorra and Ceuta to make online purchases, removing the hassle of customs and logistics operations.

Our software has two main components:

  • An online store where customers can purchase products from any website that ships to Europe.
  • A suite of internal software for handling purchases, receiving goods at our warehouses, tracking parcels through customs, and delivering them to the end customer.

We are engineers at heart, and love to optimize the entire process to the fullest, including automating purchases, identification of orders through tracking number barcodes, categorization of parcels at our warehouses based on shipping destination, generation of export invoices, electronic submission of customs procedures, route optimization for delivery personnel, smart locker usage and much, much more. Working with us you’ll be able to tackle a wide range of engineering challenges, from e-commerce UX design to AI-powered invoice recognition and data extraction.

Here's what defines our tech team at RapidAnd:

We empower our engineers to understand the problems, design the best solutions, and take full ownership of the implementation. The engineers who thrive at RapidAnd are those who enjoy mastering all aspects of the stack, from database modeling to UX design, to deliver fully functional features. We don’t have Product Managers, Agile Coaches or Scrum Masters, and our only major meeting is a weekly standup where we share our progress and plans for the week ahead.

Horizontal structure

You'll work directly with the CTO and the Operations team to ensure a smooth feedback cycle. We maintain a flat structure in engineering by hiring a small number of exceptional individual contributors. As an engineer, you'll be closely integrated with the rest of the team, engaging with internal stakeholders such as the logistics team, who are the end users of our internal software, and the customer support team, who are in direct contact with the users of our storefront.

Focus on building great, scalable software with a robust architecture

Our stack includes TypeScript, React, React Native, NodeJS, tRPC, Prisma, and Postgres in a monorepo codebase that prioritizes flexibility, reusability, and code sharing between frontend and backend. We value developer experience and aim to make it easy for developers to add new features and deploy seamlessly. We value rapid iteration over unit testing, and our local setup mirrors the production environment, allowing for instant debugging and comparison against production data.

Freedom to explore and have fun

We encourage investing time in exploring new approaches to the problems we need to solve. We foster curiosity and allow you to find innovative ways to tackle challenges. We believe the future of our industry involves more automation, AI, and inference, and we'll get there by nurturing your creativity. Our company isn’t just software, it’s about moving physical goods across borders and delivering kids’ presents in time for Christmas. We emphasize taking time to see on-site operations to get a better understanding of the problems of the physical world we’re trying to solve. Our motto: let people work where they can add human value, and automate all the rest.

Preferred Skills and experience

  • Working experience across the stack. Familiarity with our specific stack (TypeScript, React, React Native, NodeJS, tRPC, Prisma, Postgres) is ideal but not a strict requirement. We prioritize well-rounded individuals over those with deep experience in specific libraries.
  • Strong ownership mentality; you enjoy owning significant parts of the product and caring for them in all aspects.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to invest time in researching, analyzing, and identifying problems to make data-driven decisions.
  • An open-minded approach to software development, with the ability to debate trade-offs using strong, rational arguments that prioritize the project's best interests.
  • High level of proactivity and curiosity; you're excited about problem-solving and think creatively.
  • Ability to work fully remotely, with the option to work from our offices in Andorra. Living in Andorra or at a drivable distance for on-site meetups is preferable. Most of our tech team is based in Barcelona.
  • Contribute to transforming a traditional industry - Seize the opportunity to combine technology and operations to improve old, massive industries. Be part of the team tackling challenges head-on, challenging the status quo, and inventing solutions to long-standing problems.
  • Work with a small team of bright people - We believe in small, high-impact teams, and we value talent and critical-thinking over titles. We keep a high quality bar and pride ourselves for our good work.
