Descripción del empleo

Fully Remote | Linux Kernel Engineer | 6.16 Upstreaming Opportunity | 2+ Year Engagement | High Pay

Join a Leading Semiconductor Innovator at the Forefront of Linux Kernel 6.16 Development

We’re looking for elite Linux Kernel Engineers to contribute to a next-generation custom AI silicon platform in active development by a globally recognized semiconductor leader . This fully-remote role (work from anywhere in Europe ) offers a rare opportunity to work at the bleeding edge of Linux kernel internals , contributing to a platform designed for AI / ML acceleration at the silicon level (previous AI / ML is not required) .

The Role :

You’ll be embedded in a high-caliber engineering team working on a custom Linux Kernel 6.16 fork , developed to tightly integrate with a novel AI-focused SoC. Your work will span deep kernel internals and involve :

  • Low-level kernel modification and customization to support proprietary compute fabrics, memory subsystems, and I / O models.
  • Backporting critical features and security patches across kernel branches.
  • Collaborating on upstreaming efforts for select modules and drivers.
  • Working on real-time performance tuning, scheduler modifications, and DMA pipeline integration.
  • Close interaction with hardware engineers to bring up, test, and validate new board designs and chip revisions.

We’re Looking For :

  • Proven experience with Linux kernel development , ideally on recent kernel branches (5.x–6.x series).
  • Solid expertise in kernel module development , memory management, interrupt handling, and device driver architecture .
  • Strong knowledge of backporting techniques and tools.
  • Experience with upstream contribution workflows (patch submission, mailing lists, kernel.org practices).
  • Prior exposure to custom SoC enablement , preferably in AI / ML , DSPs, or edge compute platforms.
  • Comfort working with git , make, and low-level debugging tools (kgdb, perf, ftrace, etc.).
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Bonus Experience :

  • Knowledge of Yocto , Buildroot , or other embedded Linux build systems.
  • Prior work on AI accelerators , RISC-V , or custom compute architectures.
  • Contributions to the mainline Linux kernel .
  • Location :

  • Remote-first – work from anywhere in Europe
  • Collaboration across EU time zones
  • What’s in It for You :

  • Join a multi-year, high-impact silicon development project with a world-class team
  • Deeply technical, kernel-first role with wide architectural influence
  • Work on real hardware , real performance challenges, and a real upstream story
  • Flexible working hours, excellent technical autonomy, and competitive compensation (way over 100k per year equivalent)
  • If you're passionate about building and bending the Linux kernel to serve next-gen compute, we want to hear from you .

Apply now and bring your kernel expertise to one of the most exciting hardware / software co-design projects in Europe today.
