Are you interested in jumping into the driver’s seat of our sensational FireTV partner products? We are looking for exceptional talent to join as Software Development Manager in the Fire TV team.

Our charter is to provide customers and partners a compelling, secure, and robust experience with a steady flow of engaging new features throughout the lifetime of a device.

As a Manager of Software in the FireTV 3P Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading a multi-functional team to deliver customer-facing products and features that have a meaningful impact on customers' lives. You will lead the teams through a significant time of change, as we prepare to support exponentially more use cases and grow the team past our v1. You will use your technical expertise to scale the experience to support future FTV 3P devices.

In addition, you are a leader of leaders with progressive technical experience, a demonstrated progression of management scope, and a passion for growing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment. You have kept your coding skills sharp and possess exceptional project management and communication skills. You have successfully grown teams and people in the past and bring out the best in your teams. You will draw from your deep and broad technical expertise to hire and mentor engineers, complete hands-on technical work, and provide leadership on complex technical issues. You will manage and be responsible for delivering some of our most strategic technical projects.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach.
• Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
• Manage departmental resources, staffing, and mentoring, and enhance and maintain a best-in-class engineering team.
• Maintain and improve existing software.
• Prepare technical requirements and software design specifications.
• Report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management.

About the team

The FireTV 3P engineering team is chartered to bring enchanting FireTV experiences to third-party devices. This is an opportunity to design, develop, and own the software that disrupts the TV viewing experience and impacts billions of viewers and devices.

We are spinning up a greenfield engineering team to build tools and technologies which will redefine the way 3P partners build their TVs on the FireTV ecosystem. With an exciting roadmap and launches planned ahead, the FireTV 3P engineering team will independently own, deliver, and support the end-to-end product journey for partners.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
• Experience in engineering team management.
• Experience in engineering.
• Experience in leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• Experience partnering with product and program management teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
