You will be part of EY's EMEIA-based Digital Health Excellence Center (DHEC). Our mission is to improve health outcomes and patient experiences. As the DHEC, we bring our expert knowledge and delivery power to industry-leading healthcare providers in collaboration with local firms.

The opportunity

As a software architect, you will work alongside a team of international experts in technology, business, and the healthcare industry. Software development is one of the core strengths of the DHEC and pivotal in delivering digital health tools for our clients. We want to further strengthen our technical expertise with your help.

Your key responsibilities

As a software architect, you are responsible for overseeing and guiding the development team to ensure the architectural vision is maintained. Additionally, you will collaborate with near- and off-shore technical teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure our tailored software solutions for healthcare clients comply with health regulations and standards. You will also work with clinical teams, administrators, and healthcare professionals to prioritize and address health-specific software requirements.

You will evaluate and select software development technologies, tools, and platforms. You will identify software requirements and design architectural blueprints for the development team. Communication with stakeholders such as project managers, scrum masters, product owners, business analysts, developers, and security architects is essential. You will also provide training and support in business development.

What you can contribute

• Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service, and technical writing skills for technical and business audiences.
• Proficiency in your local language; fluency in English is required. Knowledge of additional languages (Italian, Portuguese, German) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work under tight timelines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Flexibility to travel as needed.

To qualify for the role you must have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or related field with a strong IT focus. Master's or certifications are advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience, including at least 2 years in healthcare, focusing on designing and implementing applications on native mobile platforms (Android/iOS). Experience with hybrid solutions or web is a plus.
• Deep understanding of mobile application development, Android and iOS frameworks, and technical characteristics.
• Comprehensive knowledge of software architectures across all layers, including network, infrastructure, security, persistence, application, and frontend.
• Proven experience in writing technical concepts, database design, and data modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform.
• Experience designing architectures in healthcare landscapes and ensuring interoperability with healthcare data formats like HL7/FHIR, OMOP, xDT, openEHR.
• Good knowledge of the German healthcare system landscapes and reference architectures (e.g., TI, HIS, LIMS).

Ideally, you'll also have

• A reliable network in the healthcare industry and a consulting track record.
• An understanding of industry technology trends and emerging technologies applicable to healthcare.
• Knowledge of agile project management standards and frameworks such as Scrum or SAFe.
• Ability to read and develop code in languages like Java, C++, C#, Python, PHP.
