A leading company is seeking a Software Architect to join their R&D team. The role involves leading architectural evolution, mentoring engineers, and working on complex codebases. Formación

Descripción del empleo

At the start of 360Learning's growth, we were only 10 developers in the R&D department working on a single code base. Today, we are divided into 12 “product squads” made up of developers, product managers, and designers and 5 “tech squads” (DevOps, DX, Data, Architects…).

Our Software Architects are “hands-on” problem solvers who coach our engineers on code organization, technical debt solving, and big features implementation. They are accountable for leading tech roadmaps (performance scalability, security…), experimenting with new technologies, making PoCs, and ensuring our architecture remains a reference in the SaaS industry. This is a unique opportunity to :

  • Work with complex and cross-cutting challenges: Building expertise around a complex codebase with analysis and modeling capabilities, managing significant traffic (4.5 million monthly active users, 1 million courses played per week, 2 data centers), and focusing on “clean architecture” for long-term growth. Stay "hands-on" through regular refactoring and supporting squads with complex projects.
  • Contribute to a scale-up aiming to improve itself: Align R&D on strategic subjects like architecture, stack, organization, roadmap, and objectives. Enhance team skills via good practices, workshops, and documentation, within a context of strong international expansion.
  • Be part of a high-level team: Our R&D comprises about eighty engineers recognized for analyzing and modeling complex codebases. Our decentralized peer-review process fosters expertise sharing and growth.

Within a month, you will :

  • Discover 360Learning, its platform, teams, and culture
  • Familiarize yourself with our R&D way of working
  • Understand the team’s processes

Within 3 months, you will :

  • Master our stack (NodeJS, VueJS, MongoDB) and architecture
  • Complete your first complex project (e.g., implement a cache system to optimize dashboards)
  • Establish good development practices (e.g., module dependencies and import practices)

Within 6 to 12 months, you will :

  • Make strategic architectural decisions (e.g., design messaging queues)
  • Lead architectural evolution (e.g., segment core objects, introduce new services/data pipelines)
  • Promote and train R&D on these developments by defining best practices
  • Onboard new team architects

The Skill Set :

  • At least 8 years of experience, ideally in a Product-Led Growth environment
  • Hands-on experience with complex codebases and a focus on software quality
  • Ability to evangelize technical topics impacting the R&D team
  • Knowledge of software architecture patterns and characteristics (cloud expertise, e.g., Azure is a plus)
  • Mentorship skills to develop team practices and skills
  • Proficiency in algorithms
  • Fluent English (US/UK) / B2 level or equivalent (FR)
