An international executive search firm is seeking a Site Managing Director for a manufacturing site in Barcelona. The role requires extensive leadership experience of 10-15 years in transport, automotive, or heavy machinery sectors. Responsibilities include implementing company policies, delivering financial and operational performance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Candidates should possess a strong background in industrial management, P&L responsibility, and fluency in Spanish, Catalan, and English. Formación

  • 10-15 years of experience in transport, automotive, heavy machinery or industrial technology.

At LHH Executive Search we are currently supporting our client, an international leader in the manufacturing industry, who is currently looking for a Site Managing Director based in Barcelona. The site has secured strategic projects for the next years and is currently entering a phase of continuous improvement and gain of efficiency and competitiveness for the years to come.

Reporting to the Country Managing Director and to the Business Unit VP Europe, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Successfully implement and adhere to company policy, procedures and digital tools and develop strategic plans in the site
  • Represent the company at local level. Act as the Legal Representative (including the management and control) of the site
  • Lead an effective site management team. Motivate continuous improvement through total loss elimination mind set
  • Ensure that the Ethics & Compliance policy is applied on the site in respect of all business transactions and of personal integrity
  • Deliver financial performance by controlling finance. Delivery on sales, orders, profit and cash as per agreed budget, supplemented by Customer Directors for existing clients and Business Development for new clients
  • Deliver industrial performance both operational and supply changes according to the company procedures and reach site budget industrial target. Focus on leading rather than lagging indicators to anticipate problems and/or opportunities
  • Manage Field Operations activities for projects in alignment with industrial performance targets.
  • Ensure Environmental & Health compliance with the company and legal requirements and reach E&H budget site targets. Build safe place to work for everybody via promoting safe behaviors and constructive feedback culture
  • Implement and ensure right application of (site) Quality Management System and reach site budget quality targets. Create environment of right first time quality through promotion and strengthening of right behaviors
  • Ensure that (Site) Standard Processes are deployed in the site.
  • Ensure security co-ordination for the company employees, assets and data in the site.
  • Manage Workload in line with (Site)/ Regional Centre Workload strategy
  • Maintain a constructive dialogue with Union representatives, leading collective agreement negotiations with Site HR
  • Carry out constant & permanent internal communication interaction with site employees.
  • Ensure that a crisis management system is developed and maintained.
  • Develop and protect the company image in the country or cluster with key stakeholders
  • Create initiatives to take advantage of market opportunities, reduce operational threats, forestall business risks, and maximize core strengths. Research and analyse industry, market, and competitors to make informed strategy decisions
  • Continuously enlarge network across and among regions with other sites MD, central and supporting functions.

We are looking for an industrial leader with 10-15 years of experience in transport, automotive, heavy machinery or industrial technology, bringing a solid background in industrial management, labor relations and managing a P&L. You should hold a graduate degree in Engineering or Business Management coupled with a postgraduate or Masters in Technology, Lean Management or Industrial Management. In addition, it is important that you have a solid experience in forming and leading teams and in people management, as well as a good commercial knowledge for assessing business risks and opportunities, enabling decision making for the business profitable. Product development and project management knowledge is also specially important for this key-position, that also requires strong competencies and skills in business and strategic view, leadership, planning, results delivery, networking, proactive decision making, ability to convince, influence & persuade, communication and public speaking and coaching and mentoring skills for people development among others. Spanish, Catalan and English fluency is required and other languages like French are desired.
