A leading company in the aviation sector seeks an experienced Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician. The role encompasses fabricating, assembling, and repairing sheet metal components for general aviation aircraft, ensuring quality and adherence to safety standards. Candidates should possess a high school qualification, extensive aviation experience, and ideally hold an EASA B1.1 license.

Formación

  • Minimum five years of diversified aviation sheet metal experience required.
  • Must be able to perform simple arithmetic like addition and subtraction.
  • Use simple drawings and measuring devices.

Descripción del empleo

JOB SUMMARY:

Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment for general aviation aircraft. Work may involve setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks or forms using hammer; operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints; burr surfaces.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences, and required methods and materials, according to blueprints, drawings, written and verbal instructions.
  2. Lay out sheet metal parts using blueprints, drawings, written or verbal instructions.
  3. Alter existing parts using blueprints, drawings, written or verbal commands.
  4. Rivet and remove sheet metal components.
  5. Bend and form a radius on fabricated sheet metal parts.
  6. Drill various metals; deburr holes and cut lines.
  7. Set up for countersinking and dimpling of holes.
  8. Set up for and install solid rivets with a rivet gun or squeeze tool.
  9. Install blind rivets and fasteners.
  10. Ensure parts meet quality specifications and requirements.
  11. Use mechanic's hand tools and measuring devices, such as scales or protractors.
  12. Communicate effectively daily with TSMs, mechanic leads, and others supporting aircraft arrival, maintenance, and departure to ensure customer satisfaction.
  13. Perform other related duties as required.

High school education or equivalent required. Must be able to perform simple arithmetic, such as addition and subtraction of decimals and fractions, and use simple drawings and measuring devices.

EASA B1.1 license desirable.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum five years of diversified aviation sheet metal experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of aircraft structure repair manuals.
  • Skilled in identifying types of corrosion.
  • Skilled in corrosion removal procedures.
  • Skilled in the application and removal of wash etch and alodine material.
  • Skilled in primer application.
  • Ability to identify rivets, bolts, screws, nuts, and washers.
