Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Wind Global Machine Head Yaw subsystem. You will own the mechanical design of yaw components, focusing on hydraulic and mechanical braking systems, through design, testing, qualification, and fleet support.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, design for manufacturability, and continuous improvement to enhance system reliability and performance across utility-scale wind turbines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years mechanical analysis and design experience.
• Working knowledge of technical drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing.
• Experience with 3D-CAD tools like Unigraphics / Siemens NX.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Execute projects pertaining to new product introduction and technology integration with a focus on quality and reliability.
• Design yaw system components for wind turbines: hydraulic pressure unit (HPU) systems, yaw bearings, yaw drives, and yaw brakes.
• Own and drive lessons learned, best practices and standardization in design documentation.
• Develop testing/validation plans to prove component function and reliability.
• Provide innovative design solutions to meet cost and reliability targets.
• Ensure quality of drawings, BoMs and specifications per processes and standards.
